Investing in our People

Investing in our people

A young innovative culture

UCS Solutions' average age is thirty one. We are a young vibrant, diverse and energetic company. We motivate one another and encourage innovative thinking through all levels of the organisation. We constantly encourage our staff and lead by example.

Our recruitment policy

As part of a greater plan internally, UCS Solutions looks within the company to recruit before hiring from the market place. UCS Solutions employs people based on their skills first and foremost. We ensure that the company is aligned with the equity bill, but our first priority to the company, staff and clients is to ensure we have the best skilled people on board.

Our employment equity approach

UCS Solutions has an Equity Employement policy in place that is submitted yearly to the Department of Labour. We consistently monitor statistics to ensure that we are in line with colour and gender specifics according to the Equity Act. We have found that the industry as a whole has a shortage of skills, which is a great challenge. However we aim to overcome this through our policy of up-skilling and cross-skilling staff.

A belief in personal growth and development

We believe that training and cross-skilling must be incorporated into informal and formal learning structures. We strive for continuous personal growth in our staff. Each staff member has a training plan, which details personal training needs for a year and forthcoming years. Training plans are based on business requirements and personal career development plans and are reviewed regularly.

Commitment to keeping our staff happy

Our commitment is to create an environment that is great to work in and we make every effort to encourage our staff to discover and develop their skills.

We believe that if our staff are happy they are able to focus on their work. We offer flexible hours for parents to attend to their families' needs (due to the young age of our staff there are many parents who have to fetch and carry children) and have a number of staff that work half days or short weeks.

Our Directors have a hands-on, developmental approach, which encourages strong internal communication within each division. You will rarely find a manager behind a closed door and will regularly see them "walking the floor to find out how things are going".

Our views on religion

We are a non-denominational firm. We respect all religions and we take into account staff members' religious obligations.

People Empowerment

“We value the empowerment of our people. The development of their skills. The realisation of their full potential. And the unselfish support of one another.”
