- There are 5.3 million internet users in South Africa, up 15% on last year. For the first time, more than 1 in 10 South Aficans are online. (World Wide Worx, Jan 2010)
- 77% of South Africans with internet access are shopping online. The most frequent purchases are music, movies and airline tickets (www.southafrica.info, 24 March 2010)
- 60% of urban cellular users in SA have phones that can browse the Internet. However only 21% report that they use this form of mobile Internet access. (The Mobile Internet in South Africa 2010)
- There are more than 400 million Facebook users worldwide. 2.5 million of them are from South Africa. (facebook.com, www.nickburcher.com)
