373,000 foreigners are expected to visit SA during the World Cup. On average they will stay for 18 days, go to 5 matches and spend R30,200 each.
· Of the 373,000 World Cup visitors, 105,000 are expected to be non-ticket holders; 85,000 of whom will come from Africa for a short visit.
· 228,500 overseas ticket holders will account for 38% of ticket sales. 11,300 (or 2%) of these ticket holders will be from the African continent.
· Foreign World Cup visitors are expected to attend an average of 5 soccer matches per person. This compares to an average of 2.6 matches attended by foreigners at the World Cup in Germany in 2006.
