Bringing cloud computing to the retail software market

UCS Group and Cordys have signed a collaboration agreement that marks the beginning of flexibility for retailers’ software solutions. The partnership entails the embedding of Cordys’ technology platform into UCS’ retail software applications. Cordys’ pioneering technology enables UCS’ software to execute in some of the fastest growing software solutions market segments - business process management (BPM), software-as-a-service (SaaS) and enterprise decision management (EDM) - for both on-premises as well as off-premises deployment, including selective adoption of Cloud-based computing to allow unprecedented flexibility for retBringing cloud computing to the retail software marketailers’ retail software solutions.

The reciprocal agreement is expected to generate significant business for both companies in the medium term as UCS stands to benefit from a wider international market for distribution while Cordys will benefit from the niche retail expertise of UCS and their retail software applications. The initial 36 month agreement is the first of its kind for both companies.

“This globally exclusive collaborative partnership with Cordys is a major coup for the UCS Group and we are proud to be the first to introduce these major developments in software to the retail solutions market. Cordys’ comprehensive Business Operations Platform (BOP) will be embedded within UCS’ software solutions, to be introduced to the retail application software market jointly across our chosen geographical markets” says John Bright, CEO of UCS.

Through this initiative and the collaboration agreement with Cordys, UCS will be able to focus its 300 retail-specialised software engineers on retail application development, whilst being able to exclusively utilize the platform/middleware efforts of the 300 Cordys platform-specialised software engineers, within the global retail market for application software.

As the founder of Baan Company, software veteran Jan Baan has played a key role in creating the worldwide market for ERP software, a rival to SAP. Moving away from ERP, Baan’s latest venture Cordys is pioneering the cloud computing space, rolling out software and services which are flexible to consumer needs.
